education overview
This foundational course provides an overview of palliative care, including key concepts such as the palliative approach, which prioritises an individual's quality of life despite having a life-limiting illness. Participants will learn to identify the phases of care and develop a shared understanding that palliative care begins at the diagnosis of a life-limiting illness, not just in the terminal phase.

Module 1 focuses on debunking common myths about palliative care and deepening participants' understanding of its core concepts. This education will include a discussion on the following: comprehensive symptom management, the interdisciplinary team approach, communication and shared decision-making, support throughout the illness trajectory, bereavement care, and the importance of self-care for health professionals.

Through group discussions, case studies, and resource materials, participants will explore key concepts essential for delivering compassionate and effective care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families and caregivers.
